Coaching Tool 1: Eliciting Values
Values are about what is important to us. They are often related to centering principles that help us navigate our life. An example of values might be honesty, happiness, meaning, independence, or loving kindness.
Part of the Coaching conversation is exploring your values, and connecting with how you would know you are living these values on a daily basis.
Learn more about eliciting values here.
Coaching Tool 2: Logical Levels Questions
The Logical Levels were developed by Robert Dilts. They consist of 6 levels to help organize your thinking, systemically outline the different levels of a goal and gather information to support alignment and flow of ideas.
To explore the Logical Levels read this post.
Coaching Tool 3: The Outcome Frame
This tool I am sharing with you is very helpful. It consists of 4 questions and can serve you in identifying and achieving your goals. It is mentioned in the book Heart of the Mind by Connirae Andreas and it a based on NLP, a model about change. Explore these 4 questions:
What do you want?
How might you get there? What are the steps? What might be a challenge?
How might you stay committed?
How would you know you accomplished it?
Coaching Tool 4: 4 Levels of Learning
This is a very useful tool when it comes to the process of learning and letting go of limiting habits. Each time you learn something new you cycle through these levels. It helps you to know where you are at and to keep going when it feels as if you are stagnating or feeling resourceless. Here are the 4 levels:
Level 1: Unconscious Incompetence
Level 2: Conscious Incompetence
Level 3: Conscious Competence
Level 4: Unconscious Competence
Coaching Tool 5: The Square Technique
This powerful process has been developed by Leslie Temple Thurston. It is a very deep and centering self-coaching tool that supports greater freedom from fixation and stuckness, and also opens us to the wonder of our own awareness and capacity to witness.
Learn more about the Square Technique.
Coaching Tool 6: Perceptual Position
Perceptual Positions are a useful tool to allow multiple viewpoints and create an overview. It is particularly helpful when you have challenges in a communication. Flexibility around perceptual position helps you gain resources and open up to solutions or inner answers.
Perceptual Position 1: your own position
Perceptual Position 2: someone else's position
Perceptual Position 3: witness position
